Engagement

This bank was implementing a new Branch Banking system using IMS DB/DC, DB2. Due to tight timescales there was a need to improve productivity.

There were cases of code regression – causing frustration and loss of productivity.

The paper driven handover mechanism from Development to Service Delivery was extremely time consuming and in need of renovation.

The engagement was to improve the process and procedures in development and to ensure a seamless handover to Service Delivery.

Introduce SCM tool-set Endevor.
Structure Endevor to handle parallel development to increase productivity.
Write a transformation suite to generate electronically from Endevor the the handover paperwork for Service Delivery. (This was necessary for FSA conformance)

Without the SCM toolset parallel development was impossible.

The transformation suite was enhanced to generate the JCL to execute the necessary compilation parameters and binds.

The initiative generated synergy between Development Teams and Service Delivery.

Once the 1^st Phase was in Production, parallel development facilitated Production fixes without regression.

The transformation suite was adopted by other projects within the Bank.
