In 1989, following various roles in financial institutions in the City, including Citibank, the Stock Exchange, Coopers & Lybrand (Operations Support Manager) and Nat West (Live Support and Control Manager) he, with an associate, started DOS/OS Operations Consultants, a company specialising in the provision of Operations Consultants. The Client portfolio included Argos, Marks and Spencer, Barclays Bank, Mothercare and Nat West.

1992 saw a move to the Telecommunications Industry to manage a team responsible for Operability Testing. He and his team built an Operations Acceptance and full Disaster Recovery platform. The techniques of Environment and Software Configuration Management across IBM Mainframe, AS400, UNIX , VAX and Windows NT were honed in a cross platform strategy.

These techniques were further consolidated on assignments with Computer Science Corporation (CSC) at Bhs, Cap Gemini (Citibank) and IBM (Cable & Wireless).

In May 2000, Michael accepted an opportunity to work with PWC at Norwich Union on Wealth Management, an e-commerce initiative.

Initially responsible for Operations Handover, he became the Environment Manager. This was a hands on role, recruiting a technical team to define the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), document and define the code migration process and build and maintain the e-commerce landscape, all configurable items being stored in a version control tool.

From his time in the Telco industry and at Norwich Union it became apparent that there was a requirement for a company to specialise in Environment and Software Configuration Management. (SCM)

In October 2001 Configure IT Solutions Ltd was formed. Michael has worked as Operability Test Manager for Barclays Bank plc and Test Manager for various projects at Bupa.

Michael is currently engaged as the Systems Administration Manager at WorldPay a member of the Royal Bank of Scotland group.
